VarioSys Experience Days 2019

For the first time B+S hosted the VarioSys® Experience Days in collaboration with SKAN, GEA and Harro Höfliger from October 7th to 9th in Los Angeles, CA. More than 50 special customers came together at the unique two-day conference to learn more about the innovative and highly flexible VarioSys® production system for the biotech and pharmaceutical industry.

The first day was dedicated to case studies and personal experience reports with VarioSys®. It took place in the Porsche Experience Center, where a line-up of skilled presenters and industry professionals shared their insight on flexible pharma manufacturing. The exclusive circle of participants was invited to the event by the sales department and consisted of potential new customers and high-class existing customers with further potential for follow-up projects.

Notable speakers included Dr. Bernard Shamsai of Gilead Science, Inc., Paul Tyson of Boehringer Ingelheim Fremont, Inc., Chad Driver and Brad Cates of Evonik Industries AG, and Stacy Sutton of Argonaut Manufacturing Services, Inc. These speakers were valuable to attendees because they have a running VarioSys line at their respective companies and could share their experiences not only with the machinery but with the company.

In addition, Chris Proud from GEA, Christian Kollecker from Harro Höfliger, Richard Denk from Skan, Jim Nadlonek from IPS (formerly Basco) and Thomas Bühler from B+S spoke about their experiences with VarioSys®.

The event was all work, but we managed to make room for some fun! In collaboration with the Porsche Experience Center, we provided attendees with a 1:1 experience in a Porsche. For one hour, guests were able to co-pilot an official Porsche driving coach. Attendees also had the chance to get the visual thrill of driving at some of the world’s greatest race tracks in the Porsche Simulator Lab.

The second day went from theory to practice: the participants were able to get up close and personal with real VarioSys® modules. Site visits included Argonaut Manufacturing Services with an additional option to visit McGuff Pharmaceuticals.

Overall, the event was a success and customers shared that they were pleased with the experience. The open exchange between the participants and especially the quality of the speakers with their current and different project types underlined how flexible the system is and how it can meet the current and future requirements of the industry.
