Safety device for single-use syringes

Bausch + Ströbel has expanded its product range with the addition of a new, continuously operating machine for labelling disposable syringes in combination with fitting a safety device. The main feature is a special cap which is designed to prevent needlestick injuries when using glass pre-filled syringes. Pharmaceuticals companies that work with syringes are increasingly being challenged to provide maximum safety - including after the injection. To fulfil this requirement, especially when handling used disposable syringes, the syringes can be equipped with a safety device. The role of the safety device is to protect the people concerned particularly during disposal in hospitals, at doctors' surgeries, in emergency medicine and self-medication.

With the process of labelling, inserting the plunger rod and fitting the safety device combined on a single machine, the Ilshofen-based company offers a space-saving alternative to stand-alone individual components which is optimised for production. Suitable feed devices are available to transport the syringe bodies, plunger rods and safety devices according to the form in which they come from the manufacturer - either packed loose as bulk goods or pre-sorted in delivery trays. A series of inspection, warning and counting devices, such as optoelectronic sensors or camera systems, monitor and control processing quality on the machine. Errors and defective items are separated out automatically. The throughput rate for fitting the safety devices, labelling and inserting the plunger rods is up to 24,000 units/hour.
