Problem-free, gentle conveying

With a throughput of 36,000 units/h the SME 6080 high-capacity labelling machine for disposable syringes carries out the steps of inserting plunger rods and labelling reliably and to pharmaceutical standards. Containers are transported into and out of the working area by upstream and downstream machines or conveyor belt systems, according to capacity, using a two tracks in each case.
Special transport wheels select defective containers upstream of the discharge. The machine works in continuous mode to ensure problem-free, gentle transport of the sensitive, high quality syringe bodies along the line. A servomotor controlled label dispenser with a code reader, print head and various pressure testing stations supplies the self-adhesive labels cyclically, in step with throughput, via a vacuum wheel to the labelling position, where they are transferred to the container and affixed. Defective labels can be removed from the process before application to the container. A series of further testing, warning and counting devices enables the label dispenser function to be upgraded if necessary.
The other operation which takes place in parallel to labelling is the insertion and screwing in of plunger rods into the plunger stoppers. These plastic parts are conveyed to the line via a combination of a volume-controlled feed from a supply bin and low-noise orientation.
