Three floors added to the existing engineering building for 2.5 million Euros

Space for around 20 new workplaces is currently being built by Bausch + Ströbel in Ilshofen. The topping-out ceremony for the extension of the engineering building took place yesterday. The company is investing approximately 2.5 million Euros in this new extension.

Ilshofen. The special machine manufacturer currently employs around 900 people including 117 apprentices. Since the re-organization of the shareholder structure in 2007, Bausch+Ströbel has invested 2.9 million Euros in factory and office equipment; 2 million were spent on technical equipment and machinery, and around 3.5 million Euros for construction projects (including the current project). At the end of 2008/beginning of 2009 Bausch + Ströbel had already extended the building for "final assembly and parts store" by approximately 1500 square meters usable floor space. Furthermore two hectares of land around the existing company property were bought for optional further extensions.

The additional floors on the engineering building provide 1590 square meters floor space. The two lower floors had been constructed in a way to allow the addition of further floors without any problem. The management expects the building to be completed in December.

Markus Ströbel, Managing Director and shareholder, explained that the new floors will be equipped with a ventilation system which measures the CO2 content in the room and supplies the corresponding amount of air in pulses. Furthermore the chosen technology will avoid draught, temperature, humidity and pollutant isles. "And it will save 30 to 40 percent energy" said Mr. Ströbel.

"I thank you for these investments, especially in this difficult time of financial and economic crisis" said Gerhard Bauer, Head of the District Council. Bausch + Ströbel has "essentially contributed to the global recognition of the Schwäbisch Hall District as centre of excellence for packaging equipment". Gerhard Bauer presented the medal of merit of the Schwäbisch Hall District to Rolf Ströbel and Siegfried Bullinger for their entrepreneurial achievements. (detailed report to follow on Monday).

"This building sets a further milestone in the Bausch + Ströbel company history dating back more than 40 years" emphasized Siegfried Bullinger, Managing Director and shareholder, and he praised the quick and unbureaucratic approval procedure by the town and the district administration. The crisis has not had any major impact on the business situation so far. However, to date, the incoming orders decreased by around 20 percent compared with last year's figures. The turnover in 2009 is expected to be the same as the year before.
